NERSA has contracted Genesis Analytics to produce an independent economic report assessing the responsiveness of consumers to electricity price increases. This scope of the report includes: (i) assessing the electricity landscape and understanding the consumption responses of specific sectors/customers to changing electricity prices; and (ii) the provision of a robust econometric estimation of price elasticities for different customer categories.
The Genesis report is intended to assess all available economic evidence to deliver a rounded, independent and robust view on the topic.
This study would support the submissions that BUSA and several other associations and organisations have made to NERSA regarding the impact of rising electricity prices. We therefore urge members to participate in this study.
A short brief providing the context to the study and the aim of engaging with businesses is attached, along with the survey questionnaire.
Interested members should engage directly with Genesis; the contact details are on the brief attached.
BUSA has also been asked to supply a list of interested parties, so please indicate in parallel if you will participate – please let me know as soon as possible.
