CRESTA – Joburg residents can expect a major water shutdown in the next few hours.
Johannesburg Water has issued a warning of a “major shutdown” in numerous suburbs, after a burst pipe flooded parts of Republic Road and Judges Avenue in Cresta.
Some cars were left stranded in knee-deep water and had to be towed to dry land, after gushing water tore up the road leaving holes and debris for motorists to dodge through rush-hour traffic.
Due to major burst pipe at Republic & Judges, water supply in the following suburbs will be affected:
Cresta, Cresta Ext 5,3, 1,4 and 2, Victory Park Ext 8, Robindale,Ext 5, 2, 9, 10, 4 and 1, President Ridge Ext 1,7 and 6 Robin Acres, Hurlingham Ext 5, Darrenwood ext 2 and 8 Bordeaux, Lyme Park Ext 4, Ferndale, Aldarapark, Jacanlee, Risidale, Blackheath, Linden, Blairgowrie, Robin Hills, Windsor, Fontainebleau, Victory Park ext 18, Linden Ext, Kensington B and Craighall Park, Ruiterhof Ext 10, 6, 2, 12, 11, 1, 5, 4 and 8, Blackheath Ext 3, 7 and 2, Randpark Ext 3, 4,6,2 and 5; Moret Ext 1, 6,4, 3, 5 and 2, Malanshof Ext 8, 17,4,5,1,2,3,6,16 and 9; Strijdom Park Ext 28, 19 and 21; Kelland Ext 1, Fontainebleau Ext 1; Bromhof Ext 2, President Ridge Ext 1,7 and 6 Robin Acres, Praegville, Ferndale Ext 9, 25 and 3, Cresta Ext 7, 6,1 and 4, Darrenwood Ext 9,2,7,8,6 and 5, Windsor Glen , Randparkrif Ext 2, Robindale Ext 10 and 1 Robin Hills and Fairland.
There is no ETA of when repairs will be completed and when water will be restored.
