Commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan (MOFA), the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) held the Africa Business Forum at Grand Hyatt Taipei on October 07. 102 potential buyers and people from the media joined the event.
We’re grateful to Mr. Seraki Matsebe, representative of the Liaison Office of South Africa, for delivering the opening statement. Despite the impact of the epidemic, bilateral trade between South Africa and Taiwan reached US$108 million between January and August this year. This demonstrates the friendship between South Africa and Taiwan.
In order to increase collaboration for trade and culture between Taiwan and Africa, TAITRA is inviting Taiwanese companies and African suppliers to sign the letter of intent, to purchase Somaliland organic materials and Uganda vanilla. The “Taiwan-African Cuisine Show” attracted the participants. The cuisines include Ethiopian coffee,
Taiwanese pomelo salad with Tunisian olive oil, Taiwanese Pingtung onion with South African Zulu sausage, Somaliland styled Halal Lamb kebab with Taiwanese local saint tomatoes, Ghana hot chocolate, and Egyptian garlic with Taiwanese potatoes.
In addition, TAITRA invited two speakers to share their business experience in how to work with African companies. AFTA TECHNOLOGY customized multifunctional tricycles according to local needs. This year, the “anti-epidemic tricycle” received praise from the Egyptian government. Everest Textile expanded a fabric factory in Ethiopia, which gained the honor of “Team Ethiopia” for anti-epidemic solutions.
