Hair a bit shaggy, eyebrows becoming a monobrow, needing to work off those lockdown calories? We feel for you!
What makes many of us feel even worse, is that we aren’t sure if our favourite hairdresser, salon or studio will reopen.
Covid-19 has dealt everyone a terrible blow, and the damage and continuing threat to small businesses are massive. Most small businesses have been forced into lockdown, with no form of income, but ever-mounting operational expenses. These businesses may also not qualify for traditional funding or relief aid, and they are anxious about the future of their businesses.
That’s why we have started the BackaBusiness movement with the Thundafund crowdfunding platform, as another innovative and relevant way that Nedbank is assisting small businesses. So when lockdown is over, our favourite small businesses can open their doors.
What is BackaBusiness?
The BackaBusiness movement is an opportunity for small-business owners to set up a campaign to raise funds, while backers (loyal customers, family and friends) support their campaign on a PAY now, REDEEM later basis.
This is not a charity. This is continuity. It enables the business to get in much-needed funds to stay in business. Upon reopening, they’ll have guaranteed customers coming to redeem their rewards, who will most likely spend more. Backers benefit because we love their product and we receive a reward for our support, eg a meal voucher to the value of R250 for the R200 paid.
Business owners also stand a chance of being one of 10 businesses to WIN an additional R10 000 to keep their business going.
We ask you to embrace this movement by:
- sharing the attached social post with your circle of influence and tagging SimplyBiz_SA;
- helping to create awareness around the movement; and
- backing a business in your own personal capacity that you will support with your HEART and WALLET.

A small act of kindness can make a BIG difference. Will you take up the challenge?
