We had had reports from some of our members that the electronic system for the carbon tax was not yet up and running and there was no choice but to go into a branch. Also, that some branches were not yet ready to deal with carbon tax registrations.
Please keep us advised so that we can engage with SARS on this as necessary to rectify.

Kindly find attached a communication by SARS following the President’s announcement on the important and far reaching steps to contain the spreading of the COVID19 virus in South Africa. As a SARS valued stakeholder and a critical partner in the tax eco system, we would like to request your assistance in curbing the spread of the virus and its potential impact in the country.
Please be informed that, SARS has also issued a communication to the Customs and Excise stakeholders on the impact of COVID19 to the services and activities of the different ports of entries as per the President’s announcement. Stakeholder Management will keep you informed on how customs functionalities are affected should there be additional changes.
