There has never been more pressure on the small businesses of South Africa to demonstrate resilience and resourcefulness. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced business owners to pull out all the stops to secure their survival.
In the second webinar of our new web series, Yep! and Telkom Business are determined to provide local SMMEs with the tools and knowledge to ensure maximum business resilience and to find proper support to navigate their way through the challenging times of COVID-19 and beyond.
As was the case in our first webinar, we welcome a variety of esteemed guests and speakers, including John Dludlu, CEO of Small Business Institute and Mzamo Xala, managing director of Resilience at Avatar. We will also hear more from Yep Chief Commercial Officer, Dumisani Bengu, with Innocent Pereira, Chief Marketing Officer at Yep, taking the role of host and moderator. Dumisani Bengu Dumisani holds a BA (Law), & Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Gibs. He also has Global Executive Development Program (GEDP), Strategic Mergers & Acquisitions, Expert Negotiator certificates from Gibs. He is the Chief Commercial Officer at Telkom Business and is currently also a candidate for his second Master’s degree in Energy at Wits Business School. His career extends over a period of 25 years in fields such as Sales & Marketing, Operations, Customer Service, Strategy, FMCG Retailing, Digital entertainment, Banking and Telecommunications.
John Dludlu John is the CEO of the Small Business Institute (SBI) and boasts a 20-year career spanning across the fields of teaching, journalism, corporate and public affairs. He holds an MA from Rhodes University and has served as Editor of the Sowetan. He says small businesses run in his family and he is passionate about helping South Africa’s decision makers understand precisely what SMMEs need to start, run and grow successfully.
Mzamo Xala Mzamo is a senior strategist, and is the managing director of Resilience at Avatar, a specialist practice within the Avatar Agency Group, which aims to help business leaders navigate these unprecedented times. He specialises in brand innovation and boasts two decades’ worth of experience in digital telco and mobile financial services.
Moderator – Innocent Pereira Innocent has a Bcom Marketing, Advanced Diploma in Project Management, and an MBA. He is currently the Executive Marketing for SME Business-Unit at Telkom. He has a 10-year track record of holding senior management roles in the telecoms industry, supplemented by 7 years within FMCG Sales, Marketing, and Go-to-Market. Innocent is passionate about accelerating the rate of technology change and playing a part in transforming businesses into successful digital enterprises.
