SUMMARY:Minor Cracks – Major Disasters
DESCRIPTION:‘Minor Cracks – Major Disasters’\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nA presentation by Harold Robinson \n\n\n\nAchieve massive performance improvements through repairing the cracks in your business \n\n\n\nWe’re all too familiar with potholes on our road and what happens if they aren’t repaired early on. A pothole starts out as a small crack but then propagates into a vehicle damage risk and ultimately a safety risk. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCracks like these are present in our businesses – in the form of anomalies. And like the potholes\, they can escalate into major disasters for the business. \n\n\n\nHow do some organisations have substantially fewer disastrous safety or quality incidents than others? It’s not luck or good fortune. They systematically address the cracks in the business that lead to the major disasters. \n\n\n\nIn this thought-provoking presentation\, Harold will show how major failures in organisations started with small cracks – and how we can prevent these disasters by addressing the causes of failure. \n\n\n\nIn just two hours\, this presentation will change the way you view your workplace. \n\n\n\nAbout Harold \n\n\n\nHarold is a Management Consultant with over 35 years of business experience. He is a qualified Engineer with an MBA from Wits. His focus has been in manufacturing and engineering organisations\, and he specialises in industrial performance improvement techniques such as Root Cause Analysis\, Reliability/Maintenance/Asset Management and Lean Manufacturing. He is a member of RCCI.  Click here to read more about Harold \n\n\n\nComments from previous presentation attendees: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganiser\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue

SUMMARY:Managing ADHD In The Workplace
DESCRIPTION:RCCI invites you to a talk on managing ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) in the work place.\nDate: Wednesday 13 March 2019\nTime: 08h30 – 10h00 (Dave will be available for questions after the talk)\nWhere: RCCI Offices\, 272 Oak Avenue\, Unit G8\, Atrium Terraces\, Randburg\, Gauteng\nCost: R50 to cover refreshments (payable at the door)\nRSVP: Danie Bezuidenhout (RCCI President) – busdev.danie@rcci.co.za (booking is essential) \nWhy a talk on ADHD in the Workplace?\nApproximately 10% of any workforce\, regardless of gender or ethnicity\, will have ADHD and managers need to know how to get the best from them. \nADHD is not only about hyperactive naughty children and Ritalin. \nIt is a neurological condition that you are born with and is highly inheritable. You do not grow out of ADHD. The best option is to learn to manage the condition consistently. \nFour out of five children with ADHD have at least one ADHD Parent who has the condition. \nMany entrepreneurs have ADHD as they tend to be mavericks\, rule breakers\, innovative\, super bright and conform with great difficulty – if at all – to the corporate culture. \nFor business\, this has important consequences. \nSome ADDers are physically hyperactive\, others are day dreamers\, while most are a combination of the two extremes. \nUnderstanding why people with ADHD struggle with issues such as time\, (always late) boredom\, (can’t finish tasks)\, structure (can’t plan their day)\, volatility (unexplained rages) will help Managers to manage their teams better. \nThere are many myths and misconceptions about ADHD and the most common ones revolves around medication. \nAround 80% of all addicts (drugs\, alcohol\, eating disorders\, gambling\, sex\, shopping\, gaming\, social media etc) have ADHD but this is not due to an addiction to ADHD medication. Instead ADDers self-medicate with substances\, alcohol and other destructive behaviour to calm their hyperactive brains and deal with low self- esteem and anxiety. \nOur speaker on this important topic is Dave Pughe-Parry the founder of Living ADDventure®. (https://livingaddventure.com) \nAbout Dave Pughe-Parry\nDave has a background in journalism where he was a hard news photographer and journalist on the Rand Daily Mail and The Star and a contributor to international media. He moved on to advertising\, industrial theatre\, audio visuals and managing a film and video production company before being diagnosed with ADHD in his mid-40s. \nDetermined to help other ADDers and their families live contented and productive lives\, Dave pioneered ADHD Coaching in South Africa and he has developed online and offline training courses\, workshops and conferences for business\, parents\, educators\, medical professionals and families. \nOver the past 15 years\, Dave has trained more than 6000 teachers and worked with hundreds of families who have battled with ADHD. He has also been a popular speaker at Educational and other conferences around the country. \nThere is no magic bullet to managing ADHD\, a multi-disciplinary approach and Living ADDventure® advocates a multi-disciplinary approach to treating ADHD. \nThe Living ADDventure ADHD Treatment Wheel \n  \n

SUMMARY:Skills Of the Future
DESCRIPTION:A NETWORKING WITH A PURPOSE EVENT \nPRESENTED BY: Paula Quinsee \nWHAT WILL BE COVERED: \nUnderstanding the job landscape and skills of the future \nOften we hire for skill yet fire for behavior. \nThis is because we tend to measure skills on qualifications\, years of experience\, achievements and organisations worked at. \nJust because one person thrived in a role does not mean they will thrive in a new role as the environment and team dynamics will contribute to the way someone behaves. \nSo how do you know you are hiring the right person for the job? \nHow do you know which individuals to identify for succession planning and talent retention? \nHow can you as a leader understand your employees core competencies and development areas? \nIt’s far easier to teach someone skills than it is to try and teach them the behavior you need. \nCome and understand why human behavior is such a key factor in any business large or small \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND: \n\nSME’s\, Business Owners\, Managers\, HR\, Training and Development\n\nBENEFITS OF ATTENDING: \nGet insights into: \n\nSkills required in the future workplace\nHiring the right person for the job\nDevelopment needs of individuals/organisations\nTeam dynamics and effectiveness\nLeadership matching\nJob profiling\nTracking and monitoring development\nBusiness training development needs and solutions\n\nAbout the Presenter: \nPaula Quinsee: Relationship Expert\, Tedx speaker and author of Embracing Conflict.\nPaula specialises in the growth and development of individuals and organisations with a particular focus on EQ skills that empowers individuals and teams to operate at their optimum. \nShe has presented at the FutureEd Expo\, Imago Africa/FAMSA Dan Siegel Conference\, SACAP Festival of Learning\, University of PTA Neuroscience Seminar\, SA Innovation Summit\, and is a consultant to the SA TV show “Married at First Sight”. \nPaula conducts workshops\, writes articles for a number of platforms and hosts shows for Niche Radio and UK Health Radio. \nDETAILS: \n\nDate: 2nd October 2018\nTime: 09h00 – 11h30\nRegistration: from 08h30\nVenue: Randburg Chamber of Commerce & Industry\, 272 Oak St\, Randburg\nTea\, coffee and biscuits will be available.\nFEE: FREE but due to space limitations\, registration is essential\n\nClick Here To Register on Paula Quinsee’s website
